Santa Barbara Ski & Sports Club
updated: Sep 08, 2012, 11:00 AM
The Santa Barbara Ski & Sports Club welcomes the SB community to join our year-round program of
sports and social events. Our calendar year starts in September with an open invitation to attend our
kick-off meeting on Wednesday, Sept 19th, at 7:00 PM, at the Chase Palm Park Recreation Center, 236 E
Cabrillo Blvd.
This winter, we'll run bus ski trips to Mammoth, plus two week-long destination trips - one trip to
Colorado to ski the areas near Breckenridge; and a second trip to Utah, where we'll ski the resorts
accessed from Salt Lake City. Throughout the year, the club offers an array of non-ski events, including
biking, kayaking, tennis, golf, bowling; and social events including BBQs, dinner theater, camping,
music festivals, outdoor concerts and parties to celebrate special moments throughout the year…in
short, if it's fun, we do it!! As Club President Tara Brown puts it "live well, laugh often, and love the fun
you'll have with friends this year in the Club".
For more Santa Barbara Ski & Sports Club information, visit http://www.sbski.org/ and select from the
various topics at the top of the web page, or call Tara Brown at 805-563-0959. All club meetings are
open to the public, and membership is only required if you go on ski/snowboard trips with the club
($50 per year membership fee). We look forward to meeting you! Ages 21+
The mission of the Santa Barbara Ski and Sports Club is to bring local residents together to enjoy the
many year-round social and physically challenging events and trips in a positive environment.
This non-profit club began as a skiing club only in 1955 but has evolved to a full summer and winter
sports club with a very diverse schedule of ski, social and sports events. Membership is limited to adults
over the age of 21, who enjoy sharing a positive view of life, are physically active, enjoy meeting new
friends, and like to have fun in a variety of arenas.
The purpose of the Santa Barbara Ski and Sports Club is to further the skiing and snowboarding
enjoyment and proficiency of its members through informative and entertaining meetings, ski trips, and
other winter and summer sports. Social and sports events are provided to encourage fellowship among
ski and snowboard enthusiasts. It is a nonprofit, social club and does not benefit any individual
financially.
This website is for the benefit of the club's members and those who may be interested in joining the
club. Nothing contained herein should be considered to be an advertisement to sell goods or services.

Any EdHatter's have any feedback on this club? Is it open to newcomers or clubby? Is there new blood or is it waning?

I joined last year. Went on a couple of ski trips, bike rides, and other activities. Good people, good fun--give it a try!

I do not belong to this group, but according to my friends and family that do belong, it is wonderful. There are lots of nice people, who do lots of fun stuff. The club works hard at having lots of events that are varied and anyone can attend. Good place to get active, stay active and if you are single perhaps meet someone special! Go enjoy!
