Incident: Injury Traffic Collision w/Felony DUI Arrest

Narrative: On the above date and time, the Ventura Police Command Center received numerous 911 calls reporting an injury traffic collision in the area of Ventura Avenue and Sunnyway Drive. As officers arrived on scene they located two juvenile pedestrians who had been struck by a vehicle.

The preliminary investigation revealed Ehritt was driving north on Ventura Avenue in the southbound lane. As Ehritt approached the intersection with Sunnyway Drive he veered to the left driving over a raised curb before striking a streetlight pole. This impact greatly diminished the speed of Ehritt's vehicle, however it continued past the light pole and struck both victims as they stood on the sidewalk.

Investigating officers determined Ehritt was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Ehritt was placed under arrest for felony DUI and was later booked into the Ventura County Jail. Both victims were transported to Community Memorial Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
