Incident: Stolen Vehicle Pursuit and Arrest

Location: Monmouth and Harbor Blvd.

Date/Time Occurred: 04/04/12 @ 1111 hrs. Officer(s) Involved: Numerous VPD Patrol/Motor Officers, California Highway Patrol, and Ventura County Sheriff's

Victim(s): State of California Suspect(s): #1 Eric Forrest, 25 yrs, Ventura Resident Report #: 12-3824

Narrative:

On the above date, at approximately 1111 hours, a Ventura Police Department Patrol Officer, observed a vehicle reported stolen earlier in the day driving in the area of Harbor and Monmouth.

The patrol officer and a K-9 officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver, later identified as Eric Forrest, failed to stop and entered the 101 Southbound at a high rate of speed and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit covered a distance of approximately 8.2 miles, South on the 101 where Ventura Police terminated the pursuit, and it was taken over by the California Highway Patrol. The pursuit continued Southbound on the 101, until it exited the freeway at Central Avenue and continued through several streets in the industrial area. Forrest abandoned the vehicle as it hit a parked vehicle on Ventura Boulevard, and he fled on foot into the strawberry field just south of the freeway.

With the assistance of several officers from the Ventura Police Department, California Highway Patrol and the Ventura County Sheriff's, Forrest was taken into custody without incident after a short foot pursuit.

Speeds in the pursuit ranged from 55mph in the industrial area to a maximum speed of 110 mph on the 101. During the pursuit, Forrest committed numerous traffic violations and hit several orange cones while he traveled through a construction zone.

Forrest was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail for felony evading, possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run, violation of parole and possession of master key.

No one was injured as a result of the pursuit, or during the arrest of Forrest.
