Picnic with Pups
updated: Aug 20, 2011, 10:30 AM
Yesterday evening, my husband and I went down to the beach to have a picnic dinner. There were lots of people walking, many with their dogs. On this particular beach, there is a designated off-leash dog area. The other part of the beach has signs requiring that dogs be on a leash. That's where we were sitting. At least three people or couples with unleashed dogs came by. All of the dogs stopped by our picnic to sniff it, and one of the dogs pooped nearby, while its owners looked the other way, pretending not to notice.
We didn't say anything because we were not in the mood to get into an argument with those dog people, but really, Edda, what the hell is wrong with them? We are not dog lovers and so don't have one. Is it not okay to want to sit on the beach without other people's dogs bothering us?

Dear Not a Dog Person,
I love picnic dinners! What did you have?
