FUNKY FRIDAY

Funky Friday
updated: Jul 29, 2011, 8:01 AM

By Ventura Edhat staff

The rusting metal structures at the abandoned Shell Chemical Plant along the Ventura River Bike Trail is our pick for today's Funky Friday. The amazing artistic graffiti, some with social and cryptic messages, decorate the decaying metal like hieroglyphics from a past civilization. The clank of dangling metal against the huge empty tanks plays a eerie, haunting sound. Not a place you'd want to be after dark and honestly a little scary in the day too. This post-apocalyptic looking oddity was also inspiration for Aingel Emme's music video appropriately titled "Straight to Hell."

The graffiti there so impressive, I wonder if some of it is done by students at nearby Brooks Institute?

Is it me, or does one of those pictures look like an old abandoned bus stop, in the middle of a chem plant?

I like how the Force is well represented.
