Some Kind of Nut
updated: Jun 18, 2011, 10:00 AM

Dear Edda,

I was driving to work the other morning when I came to an intersection with a stop sign, where I usually make a right turn. Because I go to work very early, there is never anyone else on the road, and so I generally slow a little and then turn. When I came to the intersection on this particular day, there was a woman who had been jogging and was stopped there, waiting to cross the street. Well, needless to say, she startled me - as I said, it was very early and I never see anyone - so I honked. She stared at me like I was some kind of nut, which I thought was out of line, so I gestured for her to go across. She waved her hand for me to go first, insinuating that I might hit her. I think this was extremely rude, and it has been bothering me since. Now I find myself looking for her every morning so that I can stop and give her a piece of my mind.

Signed,

Courteous Driver

Dear Courteous Driver,

If it looks like a nut and it sounds like a nut… is it a nut?
