WHERE IS IT?

Rincon Point

Congratulations to "Soulsurfer" for the correct answer to yesterday's Where Is It Wednesday photo. It's the famous surfing spot Rincon Point. Also known as "Queen of the Coast," it's the only place where a surfer can catch a wave in Santa Barbara and end up in Ventura. Located on the Santa Barbara/Ventura County line, conditions at the Point produce some of the longest, most consistent waves which make it one of the top rated surfing spots in the world. With a stream supplying steady fresh water flow and tide pools rich in marine life ,this area was also an ideal site for the Chumash to live. The photo of this makeshift shack made from driftwood was taken from the south end of the point, a unique spot worth a visit, especially on good surf days to watch surfers honing their skills.
