In Ventura? Hmmm... The harbor is a nice place to take a stroll. Not much there, shopping-wise, but it's scenic.

There's Golf N Stuff...? Main street and the Promenade...(where you can meet some of the friendly local derelicts, druggies and bums...)

Other than that...we got beaches. :-)

Take a trip to the Channel Islands. Island Packer runs out of the Ventura harbor. It's very reasonable and fun for all ages. I haven't been on heir website in a while but they have fees and schedules posted.

If the captain sees a whale or a pod of dolphins, he will stop for a few minutes and will check it out. We saw Pilot whales on our trip. You will always see dolphins and seals.

Once you are on the island, you can take a tour, rent a kayak, snorkel , etc. It's pretty cool.

Jacobin is a real "One Hand Luke" when it comes to Seymour Essex Xavier. Or maybe he just seems that way.

Just kidding, Jacobin. It is yours to wash as fast and often as you like

Your intellect is always top notch & much admired.

As for Jacobin, well, sorry about your luck (or lack of it).

Well kids, seriously, quite a lot to do around Ventura. Anything ocean. Beach, bike riding, boating, surfing, kayaking, bikinis..., oops, umm, all kinds of things.
Head a little inland and camping, boating, fishing, hiking...
I like bicycling so along the coast is the most fun. You can ride up the trail to Ojai I think. And the motorcycling is killer thru the canyons. Head up to SB and check the zoo. I think there's other stuff to do there. I agree with 14, that boat trip sounds great. Anything on the ocean worx for me........

Can't wait to get out on our boat, great for catching Tuna and such. And I have to agree the Santa Barbara boat ride is quite worth the price. Lots to see in Southern California.
