The Magic Kingdom
updated: May 14, 2011, 10:15 AM

Dear Edda,

My extended family - me, my girlfriend, my brother and his wife, their kids, and our mom and dad - went to Disneyland last weekend for Mother's Day. My brother and his wife have two kids - ages 9 and 11.

My sister-in-law is one of those pain in the neck parents, who never tells her kids no, and is always explaining everything to them instead of saying they can't have something. You know the type. Anyway, she's always excusing them for being rude (like telling their grandma she's fat, or saying they don't like someone), and saying honesty is the most important thing there is.

Well, you know where this is going. The tickets at Disneyland are ridiculously expensive, age 3-9 is $68 bucks, and 10 and over is $76. So, they're in line, trying to keep an eye on their kids, who are running all over the place (instead of standing in line), and they saw the prices. They exchange these guilty looks and proceed to try to purchase two 9 and under tickets - even though the 11-year old is yanking on her mom's purse, trying to correct her age.

I know I was wrong to start busting up, but I just couldn't help it. The guy at the ticket booth heard me laughing and then he asked my niece how old she was, and made my brother and his wife pay full-fare. They were teed off at me all day and insisted that I owed them the difference. I honestly don't think I do. What do you say?

Dear Honest Uncle,

Oh my! I hadn't realized the prices at Disneyland had gone up that much!
