Vehicle Accident with Commercial Structure Fire

Incident Number: 17-0023796 Information Contact: Tony Hill, Battalion Chief, 805-339-4300 Incident Type: Vehicle Accident / Commercial Structure Fire Date/Time of Incident: March 17, 2017 / 1:12 Incident Location: Walker / Moon Drive Cause: Vehicle Accident Injuries: 1 adult male Fire Equipment: 5 Engine Companies, 2 Support, 2 Command, 1 Fire Investigator Total Fire Personnel: 26 Agencies Involved: Ventura City Fire Department, Ventura County Fire, Oxnard Fire, Santa Paula Fire, and Ventura PD

Narrative: On the above date and time Ventura City Fire was dispatched to a reported vehicle into a structure. While units were responding it was reported that the vehicle was on fire. Upon arrival Firefighters discovered a full size pickup truck in inside a two story commercial building well involved in fire. Firefighters treated one adult male who was in the vehicle at the time of the collision; he was transported to a local trauma center for treatment of his injuries. Additional firefighters extinguished the fire which had traveled from the first floor all the way to the roof. The fire was controlled 23 minutes after firefighters arrived and fully extinguished 1 hour later. No firefighters were injured as a result of this incident.
