Ojai Mardi Gras Celebration
updated: Mar 14, 2017, 7:43 AM

By Robert Bernstein

Mardi Gras may have already come and gone on February 28, but Ojai celebrates the occasion a bit later! Why not? It just keeps the fun going longer!

Here are my photos! Arranged in seven galleries and including two short video clips!

This was the 27th annual Ojai Mardi Gras. The theme this year was "Through the Crystal Ball: Past, Present & Beyond". The theme inspired a wide range of costumes, art and performances.

Event organizer Shane Butler is a veteran of over ten years of Ojai Mardi Gras organizing. His wife Kelli is one of my favorite dance partners and she invited me into this special world!

The Ojai Mardi Gras Band performed for plenty of dancers. A highlight was the Coronation of the King and Queen of Mardi Gras for next year. They are responsible for making sure it happens next year!

Mark your calendar now for that next Ojai Mardi Gras!

Best wishes,
Robert

Looks like great fun. The woman in blue, 1st photo, is beautiful, great dress. This Ojai celebration is likely better than the overcrowded one in New Orleans.

I don't think the link to the pics and videos got in.

Thanks, Flicka. The woman is the lead singer in the Ojai Mardi Gras Band. She was just about to toss beads to the crowd. I have only been to the New Orleans Jazz Festival which was fun. But it is nice to have our own local piece of Mardi Gras that is safe and affordable!

Thanks, 369. The Edhat team fixed it thanks to you!

Best wishes,
Robert
