Adventure Passes Valid Through February
updated: Jan 04, 2017, 3:19 PM

Source: Los Padres National Forest

Due to the lack of available 2017 annual Adventure Passes, forest visitors using standard amenity recreation fee sites within the Los Padres, Angeles, San Bernardino and Cleveland National Forests can display their expired 2016 annual passes until February 28. The 2017 annual Adventure Pass will be available for purchase beginning March 1.

Individuals not in possession of an expired 2016 annual pass can purchase a daily pass for $5. Visitors without a pass could be issued a citation by patrol officers.

Information on valid recreation passes, such as the Adventure Pass and America the Beautiful (a National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands pass) can be found at http://www.fs.usda.gov/main/r5/passes- permits/recreation. For a list of the recreation sites at the four Southern California national forests requiring an Adventure Pass, please visit www.fs.usda.gov/adventurepass.

Bit by bit, over the past few years, our so loved Republican representatives have chipped away at funds that support our National Forests and the fees we now need to pay for visits, when all of those "national forests" were just that - for all of us to enjoy. After all, we pay for them with our taxes. Bit by bit they introduces fees that we still had to pay, even though we citizens were the owners of these public lands.

Everything has become a capitalist venture, where money counts more than the accessibility to places that can help us stay well. Nature can heal us all, but it's all about money. And it looks like we're in for even more of having to pay for everyithing. Want to go to a creek to calm down - pay for it. Want to go on a hike in our National Forests - pay for it. I have no idea what our future will bring, but am hoping it won't be as bad as it looks.

Never have bought an Adventure Pass and have used the forests regularly for 40 years. And the Adventure Pass was ruled an illegal barrier to public access.

BOYCOT the adventure pass. I have never bought one and just throw away the occasional ticket.. no bfd. no fine, no nothing. I refuse to pay twice for the same thing.. The adventure pass is for parking along a public road. It is not a user fee for service.. and the forest service is continually limiting access to the back country and forest service roads.. they are without any overview.

We already pay for the roads cause we pay federal and state taxes and the government thinks they own the mountains so they can use the money they take outta my checks every week and it's almost as much as I make so I'm sure I've paid for at least one replacement patch of pavement over the last 15 years of working. I will not pay for an adventure pass now or ever!

721... you don't know what you are talking about. Conservatives did not set up the "adventure pass". It was all part of a LIBERAL agenda. The adventure pass is complete BS. It is illegal and NOBODY should buy one! Those parks belong to YOU. They belong to US. They don't belong to some government agency. I've never purchased one and I've been cited. I throw the citations away. They cannot enforce.

"...representatives have chipped away at funds that support our National Forest..."

The last I heard, the forest service actually builds roads specifically for use by the logging industry to go in and clear cut a forest., so if anyone should pay to use the forest, why the recreational users?

As for being undertaxed, every penny of federal income tax now goes straight into the pockets of the owners of the federal reserve banks - they are privately owned banks, not a federal agency.

Congress betrayed the American people more than 100 years ago when the federal reserve system was created - the constitution says only the US mint has the power to create currency , but now private bankers print dollars backed by nothing and loans them to the federal government at interest.

I stopped playing that left v. right game a long time ago because both parties are rotten to the core - the federal reserve was created during the "progressive" Wilson administration.

Don't buy it, the ticket is unenforceable. Disagreed with a ranger once at Lizards mouth who demanded I buy one from him. I told him to just go ahead and write me the ticket because the whole program was not legal. He threatened me with everything under the sun and in the end left without even writing me a ticket because he knew I was right. The forests are yours already, go out and enjoy them. Pick up after yourself, don't destroy the place but don't think you have to have money to go there.
