Ventura County Blues Summit
updated: Aug 21, 2013, 9:22 AM
What do you call a group of musicians that includes Guy Martin, Ashford Gordon, Ray Jaurique (Ray Jay),
Brian Batchley, Michael Golden and Evan Grosswirth? It could be called a Ventura County Blues Summit
as these exceptional blues players have over the past 18 years fronted or were members of blues acts
that laid the foundation for the sterling crop of new blues acts that are entertaining audiences several
nights a week throughout the county.
However, these six musicians have banded together as the Key To The Highway Blues Benefit All-Stars
appearing in support of Tommy Castro and the Painkillers in the first annual Key To The Highway Blues
Benefit dedicated to raising awareness and understanding about the disease of drug and alcohol
addiction and recovery through education. The local all-star blues summit is a show within a show
scheduled for Saturday September 14, 7-10 PM at The Tavern, 211 E. Santa Clara St., downtown
Ventura. Opening the show will be local and SoCal favorites, Tommy Marsh and Bad Dog.
This year's proceeds will benefit Khepera House, a local 501 (c) (3) non-profit drug rehab and recovery
program. Tickets are available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/368700 or The Tavern at $20 in
advance and $25 day of show. As a bonus, the California Beer Festival will issue a free ticket to their
September 22nd blues show in MissionPark to the next 100 purchasers of a general admission ticket to
the Key To The Highway Blues Benefit!
