Onyx

Our very own coffee cat. Our cat Onyx loves boxes. As we were making dinner last night I was quick enough to capture this keepsake image.

We obtained Onyx from the Humane Society 2 1/2 years ago as a companion for our other black cat Shadow, may he rest in peace, but now onyx is our only cat. He loves to sleep at the foot of the bed, chase laser lights, and curl up by the fireplace as we watch TV. He is a great mouser, gopher hunter, lizard chaser and loves to climb trees. Since he has plenty of room to roam on our 4 acres he gets plenty of chances to do all those things. He is shy of people and takes time to warm up to them.

Onyx (on the right) meeting Shadow (on the left) for the first time and the other two are of him up a tree. At their first meeting Onyx and Shadow became instant best friends and were inseparable.

Beautiful kitty. Makes me miss my two black kitties. One, "Thello" was born at the SB Shelter with congenital cataracts. Those were successfully removed, but years later he developed glaucoma and had to have an eye removed. He never missed a beat, even jumping up on the railing! The other, Maggie, was a total crack-up. She'd steal veggies as they were drying in the colander. Really. Lettuce. Broccoli. I've had over 26 cats throughout my life, she's the only one who'd eat veggies. How wonderful that your sweet cats have so much room to roam and be cats. Thanks for posting!

I'll bet Onyx would like another friend. Ask him, and if so, go out to ASAP. They have a number of gorgeous and friendly black cats from which to choose.

In Europe, black cats are considered lucky. When you buy a "Good Luck" card, it will be adorned with horse-shoes and black cats; I wonder how it got turned around over here? And they are gorgeous ...
