Incident: Arrest - Loaded Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of Narcotics

Narrative:

Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on a car driven by Rachel Carranco for a vehicle code violation. During the stop, officers determined that Carranco was driving with a suspended drivers license.

As part of the investigation, officers searched the car and found illegal drugs in the passenger compartment. Officers continued the search and found Daniel Blancarte hiding in the trunk of the vehicle.

Blancarte was uncooperative with demands made by officers but was eventually removed from the trunk. The officers found that Blancarte had been lying on top of a stolen and loaded handgun. Blancarte has previous convictions for felony violations and therefore simple possession of a firearm is a felony violation of current law.

Blancarte was arrested for: a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, possession of stolen property, possession of narcotics and outstanding warrants. Blancarte is a documented gang member from Santa Paula.

Blancarte was booked into Ventura County Jail.
