Incident: Prowling

Date/Time Occurred: 1-29-13 @ 2318hrs, and 1-30-13 @ 0236hrs

Suspect(s): S1 Ryan Cortez, 25 yrs (Ventura resident), S2 unk male, unk race, wearing blue pants

Narrative:

On 1-29-13 at 2318 hrs, the Ventura Police Command Center received a call of a subject in the back yard of a residence in the 100 block of W Flint St. As officers arrived on scene the suspect (Cortez) was found hiding in the back yard of the residence. During the investigation it was found that Cortez was in the backyard without permission and he was not known to the victim. Cortez was taken into custody for Prowling and outstanding warrants.

Approximately 3 hours later the same victim called the command center again and advised that there was another unknown person in her back yard. Prior to officers arrival the victim notified the command center that the suspect ran away and was last seen jumping her fence. As officers arrived on scene they conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim told the officers that the suspect was seen in the same general area as Cortez was found from the previous call.

No one was injured during either call and the investigation into this incident is ongoing. Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to call the Ventura Police Department at 339- 4441
