Narrative:
On the above date and time a Ventura Police Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the
1600 block of Johnson Dr. As this vehicle came to a stop a passenger in the back seat, Julian Nunez,
opened the rear door and attempted to exit the vehicle. The officer told him to stay in the vehicle
however Nunez again opened the door.
The officer felt Nunez' actions were suspicious and requested assistance. Additional Ventura Police
Officers responded and once the back-up officers were on scene Nunez was ordered out of the vehicle
and detained while the officers investigated why he attempted to exit the vehicle. He was searched and
a loaded firearm was located on his person.
Nunez was immediately taken into custody and the firearm was secured.
The driver and an additional passenger, Omar Ruiz, were searched as was the vehicle and no other
firearms or weapons were located.
Ruiz was determined to be on parole and arrested for a parole violation. Nunez and Ruiz were later
booked into the Ventura County Jail.
The driver was interviewed and released at the scene. The vehicle was released to the registered
owner.
