On January 21, 2013, at about 4:27 p.m., Oxnard Police officers responded to Stan's Drugs at 3001
Saviers Road after receiving a call that a vehicle had collided into the business. Once on scene, officers
and EMS personnel found that a white Toyota Corolla, driven by David John Mainer, had driven through
the front of the business striking two employees and a patron inside. The patron, Rick Diaz, 50 of
Oxnard, was pinned beneath the vehicle and had to be freed by emergency personnel. Diaz sustained
lower-leg injuries and cuts from glass fragments. The two employees sustained minor injuries and were
transported to the Ventura County Medical Center along with Diaz. All were listed in stable condition.
Mainer sustained minor lacerations and was transported to Community Memorial Hospital where he was
listed in stable condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the Toyota was traveling westbound through the parking lot of
3001 Saviers Road. For unknown reasons, the Toyota failed to stop within the parking stalls located
directly in front of the business and crashed through the businesses' plate-glass windows. According
the business owner, the business is usually packed with customers on Mondays, however, business was
light possibly due to the holiday.
Alcohol may be contributing factor to this collision.
If anyone has information about this collision, please contact Senior Officer Maria Peña at
805-385-7750. The investigation is ongoing.
