Ventura City Fire was dispatched to a reported dumpster fire in the Ventura Avenue area.
The first arriving unit discovered a trash enclosure structure, tree and power pole involved in fire. A
vehicle parked in the vicinity was being damaged from heat. Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack
on the fire and were able to stop the extension of the fire and knock down the majority of the flames.
The crew remained on scene and completed overhaul. A Fire Investigator and VPD conducted and
investigation of the incident.
While investigating the cause of this fire, VPD discovered a fire had occurred in a garage across the
street from this incident. Firefighters investigated the structure and found a fire extinguished by local
bystanders. Complete extinguishment was confirmed and extension into adjoining units was ruled out
by firefighters utilizing a thermal imaging device. This incident is also under investigation by Ventura
