Kayak as in a blade at each end of the doohikey you use to propel yourself along? There is an outrigger canoe club in Ventura called Hokuloa Outrigger Canoe Club. Check out their website to get an idea of when they meet & stuff. Then you can compete against Dan and whip his club's .... hieney. But if you don't want to race there is always "recreational paddling", a good workout all the same with terrific camaraderie.

711, I have respect for Hokuloa, and Oxnard canoe club. I like both of them. For the OP, feel free to paddle with Hokuloa, or Oxnard. But if you want to paddle with Santa Barbara, you will be with the best. And it has nothing to do with me. PS, Santa Barbara is more of a racing club, we don't cater to wrecks, "recs," I mean recreational paddlers.

The California Kayak Friends have a fairly active group in Ventura, they usually launch from Kiddie Beach in Oxnard. Check their web-site at ckf.org.

How about trying Cachuma Lake kayaking? Nice people and no sharks. All welcome!
