Fire Equipment: 2 Battalion Chief's, 2 Engines, 1 Truck, 2 Ambulances, 1 EMS Supervisor
Agencies Involved:
Ventura City Fire Department, Ventura County Fire Department, American Medical Response (AMR) and, CHP
Narrative: Units responded to a reported vehicle collision with a possible
entrapment. Upon arrival of the first due engine, it was discovered that there was a two-vehicle head-on collision involving 2 passengers with one entrapment.
Ventura City Fire Truck 5 utilized the "Jaws of Life" to extricate the entrapped victim who had moderate injuries and was transported by AMR to VCMC for further treatment. The other driver was found ambulatory on scene with minor injuries.
Simultaneously, crews mitigated scene hazards, provided lighting for on-scene operations, and continued with safety measures.
