Details of News Release:
On 12-20-12, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office received several reports of what appeared to
be seismic activity in the county. The Sheriff's Office has confirmed through various state and federal
agencies that there has been no seismic activity in our area. It's believed the activity was caused by
sonic booms from military aircraft flying over this region of California. The United States Geological
Survey (USGS) confirms there was a sonic boom reported at 9:26 AM and again at 9:40 AM. No damages
have been reported.

I thought it was funny noozhawk wrote an article saying it was a earthquake when nothing was confirmed. It's always the military and everyone's always so surprised. We live by a bass. News flash: SB has always been a heavy testing zone since before many of us were here and it's a military base so they're not going to tell you everything they do when they do it.

He continued to say that the object is most likely an aircraft heading north and that preliminary reports show it reaching 2,000-plus miles per hour.

Launch of the "super secret" X-37 on December 20 from Cape Canaveral is confirmed. A few hours later sonic booms from a aircraft "traveling north at 2,000 mph" are heard and felt throughout the Central Coast of California. There is no measurable earthquake during this period. The military has "no knowledge" of any aircraft causing such sonic booms. The head scratching continues...

A lot of us have been hearing these booms for months which have all been posted here on Edhat. The last time I heard them was on the 11th just before noon. This one was a lot bigger and more widespread than the others. It could be aircraft but to me it doesn't sound like the normal sonic booms. I have seen many rocket launches, space shuttle lift offs and landing but these noises are something different. The only logical sense would be that it's the military testing some type of new airship. If it's not the military, well, something else is going on folks.

Maybe they are working on a jet that doesn't produce the typical "boom boom" sonic boom? Not sure if it's possible, but if you would have a stealth jet that is invisible to radar, fly's reallllly fast, and doesn't go boom, then no one would ever know what hit them.

These aircraft are coming out of Edwards AFB, not Vandenberg. They always fly the experimental AC over the water in case they have to ditch. They will never confirm nor deny the existence of such AC, so don't hold your breath. Unless they crash into our city, they aren't harming anyone, and none of you has the right to know what is going on. All you need to know is the typical boom or double boom followed by a little shaking is just a sonic boom and nothing to worry about. No need to turn into a bunch of Chicken Littles.

As much as I understand the national security issues involved with testing aircraft, I think we most definitely have a "right" to know where all our billions of tax dollars are going. Yes, the military needs their toys (honestly, can any other military even come close to ours in terms of technology?) but they're using our money so I, for one, would like to know. We are not going to just keep quiet like dutiful little peons even thought that's what big brother would like. Merry Christmas!

Because our flimsy 60's house (the cheapest windows ever made) rattles violently to the weakest skyquakes, we have been interested in this for at least 10 years. We think they are caused by hypersonic craft. We never know what the current state of weapons are, but I suspect this is "Aurora" craft. Very large, carries 100+ icbm's, flies at mach 3-5!!! (an hour from anywhere) It uses pulsed propulsion technology. (pop pop pop sound and contrails that look like pearl necklace). The missions fly over between 9 and 10 AM and again at 3-4 PM (return from mission?) When we were levelling Iraq, it was a daily. Because these are secret craft, they may come from Nevada, not Edwards.

We used to live in Cambria and had constant sonic booms from the Naval Air Force fliers from Lemoore in the San Joaquin Valley flying back and forth at sonic speed well off the coast. They didn't have F-22s then (1990).
