Theft from Vehicle Arrest

Narrative:

On December 2nd 2012 during the early morning hours a suspect entered an unlocked vehicle in the 600 block of Saratoga Ave. the suspect stole property and fled the scene. Later in the 4800 block of Mascagni St. a few streets away the suspect entered another unlocked vehicle and removed property again undetected. Unbeknownst to the suspect he was caught on a video surveillance system belonging to one of the victim's.

At about 1545 hours investigating Officers saw the suspect riding a bicycle in the 2800 block of Johnson Dr. They recognized him from the surveillance video footage they had seen earlier in the day. Officers contacted Richard Christensen, who was found in possession of the victim's stolen property.

Christensen was booked into Ventura County Jail for 11377 H&S Possession of a Controlled Substance, 11364 H&S Possession of Paraphernalia, 484 PC Theft and an active warrant.

Investigating Officers received information there were between 5-10 victims of theft from unlocked vehicles in the neighborhood where the crimes were reported. The Ventura Police Department encourages the citizens of Ventura to lock the doors to your homes, garages, and vehicles to reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of a crime. It is also recommended that any valuables in a vehicle be removed when the vehicle is not in use.
