Freedom to Choose Foundation
updated: Dec 01, 2012, 10:00 AM

The Community Night events with the Freedom to Choose Foundation have been an on-going Monday evening once a month that is offered free to anyone who would like to improve their life. The event is highly experiential; people practice skills and get value in just a couple of hours (they don't just hear a lecture). This month (December) they will focus on Holiday Stress Management, and in January they will focus on Making Resolutions that Really Work.

Below is a 6 minute video about Jeff, a returning participant with the workshop since he attended the two-day workshop last year in Santa Maria. He has expressed what many others have said about the program.

Participant Video Interview: Jeff from Freedom to Choose Foundation on Vimeo.

Some of the participants' quotes are just amazing:

"I feel as if I've just lost 10 pounds! This is the place to be!" "I'm so glad I came tonight... I really am leaving here tonight feeling uplifted and empowered."

"I feel it has helped my recovery."

"It's opened my eyes to be a better person."

"It feels as if I've just had 20 years of psychotherapy. Tonight I got to a place my therapist hasn't been able to get me to in the 7 years!"

These events have been very well received and we'd like to alert the rest of the community about these amazing evenings and extended workshops.

The Freedom to Choose Foundation is a California nonprofit Public Benefit 501(c)(3) corporation,* and was created to support expansion of Freedom to Choose educational programs. It is operated in cooperation with and under license of the University of Santa Monica (USM). The USM Prison Project is the original Freedom to Choose program, and is supported by USM faculty and an extraordinarily dedicated group of volunteers.

Mission Statement: The mission of the Freedom to Choose Foundation is to provide an experiential educational process through which people are both taught and inspired to make better choices resulting in positive changes in behavior reflecting enhanced self-esteem. These positive changes include greater personal responsibility, accountability, less conflict, and more harmonious relationships, both in the work and home environments. The cornerstone of the workshop is developing respect for all people, regardless of cultural upbringing, education level, or circumstances.
