Stolen Vehicle Recovery/Arrest

Incident: Stolen Vehicle Recovery/Arrest, Wanted Subject Arrest

Location: 2000 Block Cedar St

Date/Time Occurred: 11/29/12 at 2315 Hrs Officer(s) Involved: Ventura Patrol Officers

Victim(s): Oxnard Resident Suspect(s): 16 year old juvenile, Ventura resident, Ivan Ruiz 18 yrs, Ventura resident Report #: 12-14267

Narrative:

On 11/29/12 at approximately 2316 hrs a Ventura Police officer on patrol observed two suspicious, occupied vehicles parked in the 2000 block of Cedar Street.

The officer contacted the occupants and conducted an investigation as to why they were parked in the area.

This investigation revealed that one of the vehicles had been reported stolen out of Oxnard two days earlier. The male juvenile who was contacted inside this vehicle was arrested and later booked at juvenile hall for vehicle theft. Officers recognized the occupant of the second vehicle as Ivan Ruiz who was wanted in connection with the brandishing of a handgun that had occurred on 11/14/12 in the 4200 block of E. Main St.

Ruiz was arrested and booked at Ventura County Jail

The owner of the stolen vehicle was contacted, responded to the location, and his vehicle was released back to him.
