Narrative: On the above date and time, the Ventura City Fire Department responded to a reported
structure fire in the 9600 Block of Tule Lake Street. First arriving units reported light smoke in the
structure. Further investigation revealed an activated fire suppression sprinkler system had
extinguished the fire and continued to run. The fire, which had originated on a fireplace mantel,
appeared to have been started by unattended candles. Firefighters remained on scene to assist the
homeowner with salvage of personal belongings and furniture as well as water removal from the
residence.
No injuries to Firefighters or residents were reported as a result of this incident. The Ventura City Fire
Department would like to remind residents of the danger to life and property associated with leaving
unattended candles burning.
