Point Conception is beautiful this time of year, as I saw from the air. So colorful, and the combinations of textures is pure art.
Have any Edhatters been in the sea caves beneath the light?

Been up to it in a boat. Access to the "cave" is almost impossible.

Do you need permission from VAFB to fly by Pt. Concepcion?

No, but I remember a drunk guy rolling down that hill that is filled with sharp succulents and then realizing it was not the smartest thing in the world to do on one trip up to the Cojo/Jalama ranch.... I agree with the other post, those 'caves' would be dangerous to even try to explore. That IS point conception after all!

I have been in the caves. We used to fish around them in small skiffs about 15 years ago. It's not easy to pick a day when the weather is nice enough to even get near them though. Not much in em except a buncha round rocks and a few cabazon......

Marvelous photo of a truly historic lighthouse. Yes, it still is in operation - totally automated. If you google "pt conception lighthouse" you will find some fascinating stories and history. The original operator in 1854 complained about only being able to get supplies from the remote "village of Santa Barbara" by a road that was only passable at low tide.
